Practice Profile

Archoffice is a design-led, service-orientated architectural practice in Auckland committed to delivering high-quality, unique projects. We pay particular attention to issues of site, locality, history, culture, scale, intensity, sustainability, climate and materiality in the New Zealand context to express an appropriate but innovative Architecture. We strive to produce award-winning schemes that meet or exceed our clients and users expectations both aesthetically and functionally.

We have a philosophy……

Architecture is Personal

  • We build productive long term relationships with our clients and their projects
  • We develop creative solutions and translate them into buildings
  • We attract and nurture diverse and committed staff with exceptional skills, who know how to listen, learn and create with us.
  • We enjoy our work and our families

Archoffice has a strong history with community, commercial and residential projects having worked closely with many different and diverse client groups. We prepare master plans and feasibility studies, as well as developing the design through to completion.

Archoffice is led by Directors Brendan Rawson and John Ingham who have a hands on and personal involvement in all projects and 20years industry experience. Additional to our team is the involvement of various experienced and skilled staff who are key contributors to the success of the design, documentation and project administration. Both Directors have a strong design background, having both designed award winning projects. Brendan's initial industry experience as both a builder and draftsman before becoming an Architect has proven to be an invaluable asset to the practice in ensuring we design both practical and buildable Architecture, knowledge we regard as crucial to be passed on to our staff. Both Directors are involved in teaching at the Auckland School of Architecture and Unitec School of Architecture. The company participates in the Graduate Development programme and assists graduates for registration. Brendan is an assessor on the New Zealand Registered Architect’s Board.

Archoffice currently employs 12 staff, including directors. Our preference is to have smaller, but more experienced support teams for large and small projects alike. These are supported by additional contract production CAD technicians as required. In our experience this offers a more efficient method of working as core staff members have an intimate knowledge of the task at hand. Maintaining continuity of Director level involvement on a day to day basis has greater benefits for the project as a whole.

Archoffice is located in an open plan studio so that the Directors and project team are in easy communication. This ensures that knowledge of the project is coordinated thoroughly and all communications with the client and others are optimised for every project.
