The Edge ASB Theatre

Posted on 13 December, 2012 02:34am

Stage two of The Edge ASB Theatre refurbishment is due to start in December 2012 and involves replacement of the circle seating, handrail upgrades and other associated works. The existing theatre, which was in use for nearly 20 years, was aesthetically outdated, showing signs of deterioration. The seating, which was state of the art at the time of installation, had become inflexible for modern productions and technology. Acoustically, the space did not perform well. Lighting and information technology advances meant the theatre was no longer an attractive convention or commercial venue. Our design approach is to create a new interior theatre that provides a superb patron experience and develop a space that can return 'The Edge' to a first choice venue for large scale events. We have designed a new vibrant aesthetic, the integration of high quality and modern architectural finishes and the integration of new state of the art building services, lighting and modern acoustics. Stage two is due for completion in February 2013.
